"I have been running excursions to Newhaven Park and the Bathurst region for the last three years (2007-2010) with my Year 12 Barker College classes.  Chris Porter organises syllabus driven excursions that provide the students with excellent examples that meet the needs of the Farm/Product Study, Animal and Plant Production Unit and any area pertaining to sustainable agriculture.  Chris understands the importance of providing students with experiences that are interactive (e.g dissections) , hands-on ( e.g preg testing) and relevant to their studies (e.g visual assessment of Beef Cattle).  He has excellent contacts within the region and his excursions are the highlight of the year for our students.  The farmers that we visit are always professional and brilliant with the students - they are friendly and role models to our senior students.  Chris goes beyond another other person or organisation I have dealt with - he is constantly seeking new places and experiences for the school and is in regular contact all year round to keep us up to date on opportunities in the region.  His facilities are perfect for the school and are so good that Year 11 will be touring to Newhaven park this year too!"
